REpurposed friday...drab tiles to FAB COASTERS!!

WHEW!  what a BUSY BUSY couple of days i have had...and the next couple are going to be JUST AS busy. but i am having so much FUN &
and can NOT WAIT to share with you all the
NEW ITEMS coming to Vintage Glam!
YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE what i have in store for you!! :)

today...{really quickly} i am sharing my project of the week.
i took some old tiles and created some really neat COASTERS with pictures of my niece & nephews.

i just used modge podge to adhere the photos to the tiles...
not sure if there is anyway around it but i did get a lot of brush streaks in them...
does anyone know if there is a way to avoid that?
either way...i LOVE how they turned out!

i also brushed a coat of VARNISH on them to protect them further.

i also created some with some of my favorite scrapbooking paper...
this is the DAILY JUNQUE collection from house of 3/pink paislee!

hope you've had a LOVELY weekend!
i'll be back to share more with you in the next couple of days!!!
XOXO,
eryn

{re}purposed friday...OPPS, it's SUNDAY! ;)

friday just passed by me like it didn't even exist...
so today, here is my "friday repurposed post"...
like i mentioned on my post yesterday - it just so happens to be ANOTHER frame.
are you bored of seeing repurposed frames yet?  i am just having so much fun with all the different things that i can do wtih them that i still have MANY MANY more in the works.  but this coming friday, i promise to have something DIFFERENT - i have a couple of projects that are in the works so not sure exactly WHAT it will be, but it WILL be something fabulous!  :)

i don't have BEFORE pics of the frame - but like all the others, it was just brown, old, & ugly!
it is actually a CORKBOARD covered in this super cute summer print.

 i also created some cute PUSH PINS attached to a clothes pin...
perfect for hanging up pictures, to do lists, etc...

have i mentioned that i don't like to throw anything away?!?!
i saved some of my COFFEE SLEEVES because i KNEW that someday i would need them for a crafty project {yeah, i know, i am kinds weird like that!!}
BUT check it out...it's JUST what i used them for!

i wanted a more sturdy base then just cardstock...so the coffee sleeves were just perfect...paired up with some scrap paper & lace and i was rolling with these...

added a lil bit of inspiration...

the backs are the cutest but wanted to show you how i used the coffee sleeves.

have a LOVELY day!

eryn

{re}purposed friday...old ugly frames {batch 1}

i have all kinds of old ugly frames to {re}purpose...
some big. some small.
some that i will finish off with cork.
some that i will finish off with chalk board paint...
so many OPTIONS, what's a girl to do!?  ;)

here is my first grouping that i wanted to show you today...
please imagine a bunch of old dark brown, yucky looking frames...{cause, in the midst of trying to get everything done, i forgot to snap some photo's for you...oppsie!}

i love how the rosettes give them a vintage yet classy feel....

i distressed them by sanding & staining...

i also finished a funky cork board to spice up the office space....

have a FANTASTIC weekend my friends!
XOXO,
eryn

{re}purposed friday...fun & FUNCTIONAL...

hello!!!
wow, i can't believe it's already been a WEEK since i last posted...these days are just FLYING by!

my {re}purposed project today is one that i am really excited about...
i {with the help of my mom} transformed their old center island that they had in their kitchen many many years ago into my CASH REGISTER COUNTER!!

we were excited about this for a number of reasons...
1.
my DAD was ecstatic to get it out of there garage - i would say it's been sitting in there {& doing nothing but get in the way} for the last 7 years or so... :)
2.
 it would be fully functional...i have small bags & tissue paper in the drawers and then bigger bags & other storage room in the cupboard part below
3.
 it's unique
4.
 it's {re}purposed

 i, of course, forgot to take good photo's of it beforehand so when i did remember, i took the following...
how we did it....
my brother trimmed down the actual counter top so that the edge didn't hang over too far.
the base was already painted a cream color...so we just brightened it up with some new antique white paint.  then the table top definitely needed a little something new done with it...something that said "Vintage Glam"...so we found this old newspaper print wallpaper at menards.  it worked out perfectly.  added a couple of coats of a polyurethane varnish to protect it and add some shine!  the knobs in the front were gold & old and didn't go with the look of the store at all, so i purchased some new wooden knobs {at menards} and painted them the pretty coral color that you see below...
my brother drilled a hole on top by where i placed the cash register for all my cords & WAH-LAH...just like that, we had created a unique, fun, and FUNCTIONAL cash register counter

seeing as it was in my parents house when we were young...i had to share a few photo's that i found this morning.  below is my younger brother, matt,  sitting at the center island {isn't he SO CUTE..i smile everytime i look at this!}
below is another FUN picture i loved finding, it was taken probably about 30 years ago...
{& no not JUST because of stephanie's funny face in the back...LOL} but i love it even MORE because sitting down at the table is my older brother, eric, and our family friend, trisha.  wanna hear something so NEAT!?!?  eric & trish are still GREAT friends to this day - they are actually neighbors... and now THEIR kids are great friends and play together - isn't that neat!  i just love it!! :)

and just ONE more...
{i believe there was chocolate involved, we all look pretty HAPPY!}

a few more AFTER photo's....

i appreciate you stopping by...
have a LOVELY Friday!!  :)
XOXO,
eryn

re-purposed friday {an old mirror turned fabulous!}

HAPPY friday...
HOORAY..we have the SUN SHINNING here in MN, it is a BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL DAY!!
...and i am super EXCITED to say it is OFFICIALLY garage sale season...WOOHOO!
i've picked up lots of goodies that need a little tlc & can't wait to show you them after i have updated them...

BUT TODAY i have another item that i repurposed inside Vintage Glam boutique.

the shop had a BIG lovely mirror
already in it when i took over.
 i wanted to keep it and it was too risky to try to remove it from the wall so we just left it where it was.  but at the same time, i just couldn't live with the GOLD framing that it had.
check it out below...
{not so pretty}
we {my brother & i} just got some cheap base boards {not sure if that is the official name of them, but you know what i mean, right?} and when i say cheap, i mean really CHEAP! i only needed two strips and they were on sale at mendards for just 99 cents each...YEP, you heard that correctly, just ninety nine CENTS!
i had originally wanted a very extravagent ornate molding but after we saw these pieces, i figured we'll start out with this and i can always update it again later.

how i did it...
i just painted the 2 strips of baseboard in an antique white color & then distressed them with sand paper & stain.
my brother cut them to fit and we adhered them to the mirror...right over the gold one.
SUPER SIMPLE, huh!  :)
i also added in the vinyl chandelier...fits Vintage Glam just perfectly!

it isn't a PERFECT frame...but it's imperfectly PERFECT for Vintage Glam!

i hope you have a FABULOUS Mother's Day weekend...
ENJOY it with the one's you love!
xoxo,
eryn

{re}purposed friday...an updated CHANDELIER

i can't believe it's already been a week...
here's my 2nd week posting a BEFORE & AFTER project...
today i am excited to share with you a CHANDELIER that i repurposed...
i LOVE how it turned out!

a lil story behind the chandelier...
when i told my parents that i had decided to move forward and open up Vintage Glam, in that same conversation i described to them what i envisioned my shop to look like...one of the MAIN items that i needed to have was a CHANDELIER.  when i said the word "chandelier"...my mother's eye's lit up...she jumped with excitement and said I HAVE ONE for you!!  my dad & i both looked at each other laughing...HUH?  so i asked, where is it...and HOW did you get it...?  well...to tell you the truth she picked it up on the side of the road..LOL...THAT is my favorite part {IT WAS FREE!! & it ACTUALLY WORKS!!} ...like the sang goes ---"one man's trash is anthers treasure"...isn't that the truth!

another BEFORE shot in it's original GOLD color...
 a little spray paint {in antique white} &
 ...some BLING can go a long way!!!

i had a hard time getting a really nice shot of the chandelier after i had it hanging...
here it is without the lights on...this one very much shows the true color - antique white.

and a few pics with the lights on....

what i REALLY love about this chandelier is that i can change the appearance of it for every season & holiday!!
WOOHOOO!! :)
thanks for stopping by...
have a LOVELY weekend!
XOXO,
eryn

re-purposed friday...

one of things i really LOVE doing is THRIFT store shopping...i LOVE finding old pieces of furniture {or any old junk} and use my creative imagination to turn it into something FABULOUS...something useful...or just something unique and different!!  i have done a lot of those types of projects as i set up Vintage Glam...i repurposed an old chandelier, my parents old center island to their kitchen, a dining room table, an old ladder, lots of frames, and....well... you get the idea, right!  :)
i am going to start sharing these repurposed items on my blog every friday..
something different.....that i hope inspires YOU!

here's my UPDATED version of an old story board frame {basically just a large frame} that i picked up at the Crafts Direct discount store...
i knew it would be useful somehow...someway...someday!

i LOVE how the chicken wire gave it a different look...
and it also makes it multi functional - i can either use some clothespins to hang up some "to do's" and other notes or adhere magnets directly to the metal and adhere that way!

..............................

of course i couldn't just put up any old clothespins...
they had to be CRAFTY and CUTE...
with a touch of INSPIRATION!!  :)

{so i created these....}

seeing as it is GOOD Friday...
ENJOY it and make it a GOOD one!
XOXO,
eryn
